During his professional career, which took him through 26 clubs in all six FIFA continental associations, the “Global Goalie” launched the Global United FC initiative with a focus on social climate and environmental protection.
An unusual career with some extreme experiences made the former professional soccer player rethink his approach and led him to look at the world with different eyes. He is currently Sports Director at MLS club St. Louis City FC in the USA.
After his career as a striker for VfB Stuttgart, Borussia Dortmund, Hannover 96, Hertha BSC Berlin and other clubs, as well as spells in the Premier League and Croatia, he began his career as an official as managing director of Chernomorets Burgas in Bulgaria. He then went on to become sports director at VfB Stuttgart, Eintracht Frankfurt and Hertha BSC Berlin in the Bundesliga.
The Laureus board member (DACH region) was an ambassador for UEFA EURO 2024 and currently works as a TV expert and speaker.

The CSR expert and former marketing and media manager with positions at subsidiaries of Springer, Burda, Süddeutscher Verlag and Bertelsmann advised top sports associations, clubs, environmental and social organizations. He also developed cross-media education and training platforms in soccer and was a lecturer at universities, colleges and educational institutions.
